[As this group ventures down to the first floor, they may be going about their day. Breakfast is still served, the doors are all unlocked and....huh. That's weird. As they walk near the ballroom, they'll hear a strange sort of noise. It's almost ignorable, but if they get just close enough, they'll be able to make out what sounds like the scratching of little claws and a few stray squeaks.
No matter how hard they look, they won't be able to pinpoint where the sound is coming from, but it will fade the further from the right corner of the hall they stray. Furthermore, it seems that this group is the only one who will be able to hear this sound for now.
Perhaps it's best to discuss amongst yourselves and bring it up to others, too.]
[Says a certain demon of greed, who stops in place, glancing around - this is rather a stupid move, as he can only see so much anyways. But its there, he's not imagining it...squeaking and scratching of little claws...]
I'm comin'! I'm comin! Sheesh. [HE WAS ALREADY COMING but now he is going to quicken his pace, reaching out to kind of rest his hand on Horikawa's shoulder.]
Don't move so fast. I don't have enough eyesight for this, either.
[ the true irony of this is that Hori can't feel any of this happening over his head ]
We may as well check both while we're at it. Despite your current vision being impaired, you may be able to pick up the sounds better than I can right now.
[ He's going to let go of Horikawa as he says this. If he wants to go stick his head under tables, then he can go ahead. Dazai isn't going to stay close while he does. ]
It's very possible they also scattered at hearing us arrive.
[ is he calling the two of you out? it's very possible. but with that, hori will move away to crouch closer to the walls, in some attempt to figure out with specific corner the squeakadeeks are coming from ]
We can at least bring it to their attention at their earliest convenience. Especially since they're probably more aware of the workings of this house much more than us.
[ maybe they have a working relationship. you never Know ]
But I don't think we're going to find anything else here.
just posting this here for reference's sake

There a rat in here, or somethin'?
no subject
Don't stop suddenly like that.
[ He can barely see. He does strain to listen though for a moment. ]
Huh. I hear it, too. I didn't think those three would neglect their duties by letting in a rodent.

From the right.....?
[ and starts heading that way ] We should go see.
[ haha was that was on purpose.....? ]

[THANKS, DAZAI. Anyways, he just shakes his hea,d lets out a huff - and then notices the figure of Hori walking past him.]
Uh, do you think that's a good idea? [He's walking after him, though. Slowly.] Maybe we should just let it be.
no subject
Not my fault I can't see well.
[ blame the furries or something ]
Won't hurt to look. If it's bad, we can tell someone else to go bother it.

You could return to the others if you’d like?
[ but the ‘we’re leaving with or without you’ is pretty strongly implied ]

You're taller. You shouldn't have any issues keeping up.
[ Mammon is like 5'8? And their seeing eye sword is 5'3" this is so ridiculous ]
Think it's coming from the Conservatory or the Billard room?

[HUFF HUFF HUFF]
It might be comin' from teh Conservatory...head there first.
no subject
Idiot.
[ Despite thinking it, he's not the most mature. ]
Sure sure. Works for me.
[ To the conservatory \o/ ]
no subject
There, there. Your height is perfectly fine as it is. [ is it tho? ]
But we'll check that first and then the Billards room afterward. If you hear anything different let me know.

[SORRY HORIKAWA HE DOESN'T KNOW YOU YET]
Yeah, we're keepin' our ears peeled. See if you see anything, too.

[ The rat rat rat noises. ]
no subject
[ but with that he's keeping his eyes peeled, looking for any strange shapes on the ground ]
I'm not seeing anything in the open...... but it's very possible they might be hiding in something.
[ can't wait for all the blinds to trip over all these squeakers tomorrow ]
no subject
Yeah, rats like to hide in stuff, y'know? If it is a rat, you should see if there's food or somethin' lying about. Maybe it wanted to have a snack.

[He grumbles, letting Hori go so he can just stand in the middle, glancing around with his dim sight.]
Maybe we should ask the staff...if there's vermin about, they need to be taken care of.
no subject
[ He saw their colors swooping in to grab the girl and go. ]
Huh. Don't tell me you're afraid of rats.
i didn't realize this was still unsent in a different window. OOPS?
[ maybe they have a working relationship. you never Know ]
But I don't think we're going to find anything else here.
